Emergency First Aid

This 1 day certificated Emergency First aid at work training course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed by individuals  in most workplaces to become a confident first aider at work. Giving both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies. It meets the standards required to help comply with Health and Safety (First aid) regulations. The course content will include  theory, group questions and practical skills  and each candidate will be continually assessed throughout the course for a final assessment.

Aim of the Emergency First Aid at Work

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course designed for low-risk workplaces. It can also be used for staff required to be emergency first aiders or to support a designated first aider trained via the First Aid at Work course. It is a starting point for staff to get knowledge and confidence  to be able to assist with any First Aid Emergencies.

This course contains the following elements

  • Resuscitation (adult CPR)
  • Seizure
  • Choking
  • Wounds & Bleeding
  • Shocks
  • Minor Injuries

On completion of the  Emergency First Aid at Work course :-

Successful candidates will be able to understand the role of the first aider, including reference to:

  • the importance of preventing cross infection
  • the need for recording incidents and actions
  • use of available equipment
  • assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • administer first aid to an adult casualty who is unconscious (including seizure)
  • administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation to an adult, including using an AED
  • administer first aid to an adult casualty who is choking
  • administer first aid to an adult casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • administer first aid to an adult casualty who is suffering from shock
  • provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
